Ganesh Temple

In the ancient times there were two temples. They were located on a rock near the sea shore. One was of god Ganesh and the other was of God Ajaralayeshwar ( अजरालयेश्वर ) Due to increase in the sea level the temples got submerged. The plinth of the temple can be seen inside the sea during the low tide in Diwali. I have seen it in the year 2008.

The Ganesh temple was then relocated on the nearby hill. The existing temple was built in the year 1430. The temple was a wooden structure. It was renovated in the year 1770 by Mr. Ramkrishna Harbhat Nijasure. The renovation started in the year 1770 and completed in 1780. The length of the temple is 18 mtr., width 13 mtr and height is 20 mtrs. Water fountains were also provided in the main hall and surroundings of the temple. The temple was again renovated in the year 1990 as can be seen in the adjascant photograph. The idol at this temple is right trunked.
